We have an array of events each year that enable our members (and their guests) to feel connected to the innovations occurring in our region in areas of science, medical research, engineering and technology.
- We have four or more educational/behind the scenes programs each year for members and guests including tours with receptions. For example, past event programming included tours at Magee Women’s Research Institute, the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the recently opened Vision Institute, Google, PPG’s Global Research Center, and many others. These events may also be gatherings where one of our many globally known researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University or in local industries update us on the cutting-edge discoveries that are happening in fields as diverse as vision restoration, cures for Type 1 diabetes, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Monthly, our National Foundation hosts one hour Zoom meetings, ARCS Forward, featuring scholars across the United States who are working in various fields such as T-Cell research, Artificial Intelligence, and prenatal care of at-risk mothers.
- Yearly, In the fall, we have a Donor Appreciation Event where all those present can meet the new scholars and reacquaint themselves with our returning scholars from both institutions. In the spring, we have a Scholar Showcase event where we learn yet more about their research areas and are inspired by the multi-talents of all our 3rd year scholars. The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University rotate hosting duties between these two events.
- Finally, our members host casual social events in their homes at various times during the year as opportunities for prospective members to get to know our organization and meet several scholars who describe their area of research.
